Modification to the temperature sensor mount on the cooling fan | |
I need a cooling fan to cool a heat sink in a modified ATX case for it case and one of it heat sinks and a small bridge rectifier assembly that need to be cooled but only when I am using the auxiliary power supply board from an modified ATX switching power supply the cooling fan at low speed when not using the auxiliary power supply board When I saw this cooling fan I wonder if I could modify it to do what I had in mind it does however if you decide to do this it is not easy to take off the small temperature sensor from the small circuit board with out damaging the temperature sensor wires or circuit board traces but it can be done correctly but you have to have patience for doing this It took three time the first one I broke the wire on the temperature sensor the second one I lift one traces off of the board the third one was a charm but the temperature sensor fell on the floor and disappear some where But I did manage to get one working one note the cooling fan will work at low speed with out the temperature sensor hook up or 10 to 20 K ohm resistor on it to adjust the speed of the fan It is well worth the money to give it a try if you are looking for a remote cooling temperature sensing board modification that you can do your self | ||
